In addition to Sunday morning Christian Education, we offer our youth opportunities for fellowship and service.
Wednesday Nights at Union
Y.C.A. (Young Christians in Action)
Young Christians in Action is our Senior High fellowship (9th-12th grades). The group gathers informally at 5:00 p.m., has dinner at 5:45 p.m., and then continues with chaplain's time, business meeting and program. The evening concludes at 7:30 p.m. In 2009-2010, our president has selected "Spread the Joy" as his theme for the year and we will do so through fellowship, service, learning and lots of fun! Each fall and spring our group schedules a weekend retreat. In addition, every other year we go on a "work safari" mission trip. Our next trip will be in June 2010. All senior high students are welcome in YCA—regardless of church membership. Come and join us in spreading the joy!
Youth Handbells
The Youth Handbell Ringers meet Wednesdays at 4:30 p.m. with director, Cheri Frusher.
Confirmation and P.F. (Pilgrim Fellowship)
7th & 8th grades comprise this group. The pastors meet with the Confirmation Class on Wednesday evenings, 5:00 to 5:45 p.m. Dinner and Pilgrim Fellowship follow concluding at 7:30 p.m. The youth, along with leaders, plan their events and parents are asked to sponsor an event during the year.
In addition to the Wednesday class, the 7th & 8th grades meet Sunday mornings at 9:00 a.m. for "Faith Exploration".
Each Confirmand is assigned a Mentor. A Mentor is an adult who has experienced the Christian journey, has something to share, cares about youth and wants to hear about their journey. On evenings designated "Mentor Night", youth and mentors share a meal together, an experience, and conversation.
Junior Fellowship
JF is for 3rd-6th graders. Members of the Jr. Fellowship have dinner and then enjoy service projects, crafts and games together.
Children's Choir
3rd-6th grade children are welcome to join the Children's Choir. Rehearsals start at 5:15 p.m. Amy Van De Hey is the director.
